Cleethorpes Shopping – Shops to Visit When You Come to Cleethorpes

Cleethorpes shopping is an attraction in its own right in my opinion. If you come into Cleethorpes (either for a holiday, a day out, or because you live nearby) there are lots of shops you should definitely visit.

There are two main areas when it comes to Cleethorpes shopping – St. Peter’s Avenue, and the shopping area round the corner in Sea View Street. Both areas have their charm, but it really depends on what you’re looking for when choosing where to hit up first.

Cleethorpes Shopping – Sea View Street

Sea View Street is the place you visit if you’re after a slightly quirky shopping experience. It’s a fantastic place for food and drink, but you’re unlikely to be able to bag a weekly shop to take back to your holiday home.

In recent years bars and eateries have dominated this little shopping street, but charity shops, antiques shops and gift shops still manage to exist in harmony.

Daniella Draper jewellers is worth a visit if you love the finer things. The Draper team create stunning designs in high quality precious metals, making them the perfect gift (for yourself or a loved on). They transition nicely into heirloom pieces you can pass down your family line, taking a little piece of Cleethorpes along the way.

For a boozy afternoon, you might want to start with afternoon tea at Petite Delight, before visiting the cocktail bars dotted around the street.

If shopping for fun is more your thing, extend your stroll down into Cambridge Road at the bottom of Sea View Street, to find more independent businesses that are worth visiting.

Cambridge Road – Bridging Sea View Street and St. Peter’s Avenue

One end of Cambridge Road boasts Message in a Bottle, a craft beer shop that sells local brands of beer and other interesting alcohol. If you’ve got time, you might want to stick around for a drink in the little beer garden outside.

About half way down Cambridge Road (near the bottom of Sea View Street) is The Original Emporium, a gorgeous shop where local artists have come together to sell their wares. If you’re looking for cute gifts or quirky souvenirs then this is the shop for you.

For something to entertain the kids, you could visit The Paintbox Studio to indulge in some souvenir pottery painting. Book ahead to avoid disappointment, and check whether your stay will give you enough time to return to collect your pottery once it’s been fired in the kiln. They also sell craft kits if you can’t stay and paint on the day.

If you walk to the end of Cambridge Street and turn onto Highgate, a coffee shop – indie business hub hybrid called Maranta is a little further down. It’s well worth a visit as it sells loads of beautiful products including some gorgeous plants and wall hangings, as well a tasty coffee!

St. Peter’s Avenue – A Large Cleethorpes Shopping Area

This is main shopping high street in Cleethorpes, bringing you a range of shops and conveniences. It’s very handy if you’ve come for a holiday, but it’s just as useful to locals too. Boasting a butchers, some bakers, cafes, supermarkets and a handful of indie businesses and charity shops, you can easily get an afternoon of exploring out of this one street.

St. Peter’s Avenue leads on to the marketplace, which hosts a market on Wednesdays and Saturdays (9-3) in the summer months.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you need to make a special effort to visit Deli-licious. They do takeaways cakes like you’ve never seen before. The cakes are the real lure, but the posh sandwiches are also a taste sensation. I used to look forward to my days working in Cleethorpes as I’d always treat myself to a meatball ciabatta and whatever cake took my fancy! (I honestly can’t recommend a single cake, because they’re all amazing and the selection regularly changes).

If you want to make this into a circular Cleethorpes shopping trip, I’d start at the top of Sea View Street near High Cliff, walk down Sea View Street, onto Cambridge Road, explore Cambridge Road and let it lead you onto St. Peter’s Avenue. After spending some time in St. Peter’s Avenue, walk through the Marketplace until you reach Alexandra Road. This will take you past more shops and cafes, until you eventually reach High Cliff again and you’re back where yous started.
