About

It’s about time I wrote a blog that was a love letter to my town. I grew up in Cleethorpes and now live in Grimsby – this pair of towns sit side by side like an old married couple, peaceful in their existence and comfortable with the world.

I chose the name Deck & Dock to reflect where I live and the home and lifestyle type of blog this is. The website address I had wanted was taken but this one was free. I found out that a corpus is a collection of written texts, which felt very fitting for a blog. While to me the blog will be called Deck & Dock, I’m still glad the website address fits the site well.

My name is Jenny, I’m a mother of three and have a lot of interests, writing being my main focus (and source of income). I’ve been blogging a few years now and still run my earlier sites (I collect blogs, adding strings to my bow – evolving instead of rebranding.)

If you’re local, you might have spotted some of my freelance contributions to Grimsby Live. I wrote about giving birth in the first week of the first lockdown, what it was like to grow up in Grimsby, and a range of family-related articles, including one about things all parents secretly do. This site is run by a husband and wife team, and you might have seen what my husband wrote about Grimsby for The Independent. You can also check out  his LinkedIn page for more writing samples.

This site covers a load of local lifestyle stuff. You’re bound to spot some more general content too, in terms of reviews, travel and lots of home-related content, but my heart is by the sea and I want to share my seaside life.

If you want to get in touch for a chat, or have questions about my content, my Contact Me page gives you the best places to find me. If you’re looking to work with me as a blogger or freelance writer, my Work With Me page is where you need to be.
