After a long dark winter, the sun is finally shining and British wedding season upon us once more. Yet as the invites begin dropping through the letterboxes, after two years of a lot of lounge wear at home in lockdown, dressing for formal occasions may feel like an alien concept for many.
It’s now time to celebrate getting out into the world again and what better social occasion is there, than a wedding to enjoy with family and friends. There are not many other situations where what you wear, matters so much. Obviously not as much as the bridal party as their outfits will of course be a central focus, yet wearing an appropriate outfit that matches the type of wedding you are attending is important as a guest to get right.

How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Guest Outfit
As lots of people are starting to think and plan what to wear to weddings coming up this year, I thought I would share my top tips for women to find a fabulous outfit to wear as a wedding guest in 2022.
1. It doesn’t need to be a dress
The perfect wedding guest outfit doesn’t have to be a dress. For so long, most women have opted for a dress and heels as a wedding guest, yet there are so many more options to consider now. How about a two piece suit in a pastel tone? With some statement jewellery and shoes, this could make a stunning wedding guest outfit. Occasion wear skirts have become a lot more popular recently too, wearing a skirt gives you a lot more options for dressing it up with beautiful accessories too.
2. Are heels essential?
If you’re going for high heels, (however good they look) Ask yourself first: Can you realistically walk in them all day and most importantly dance all night? If the answer to the first part is no, then maybe you need to rethink your footwear. Wearing heels are a great way to dress up an outfit, but they don’t need to be skyscrapers. Kitten heels or wedges are a great option to give you some height without the discomfort of stilettos.
3. Take spare shoes
If you have gone for high heels and are staying over/ have your car with you or can find a spot to stash them, why not take a pair of flipflops in a bag to dance in during the reception. Even if you’ve planned to wear the loveliest shoes you’ve ever encountered, it doesn’t hurt to play it safe with some flip flops!
4. No need to buy!
How about a designer outfit for a fraction of the price? There is a huge choice of clothes renting services online now, where you can choose from a range of designer clothes that you can hire for a few days and send then send back
5. Think pants!
It’s also important to make sure your outfit is comfortable as well as looking good. What I’m mainly referring to here is control underwear. If you are relying on it to pull off a body con outfit that you don’t feel comfortable in otherwise – It’s wise to test run it first. There’s nothing worse for taking the fun out of an event than feeling like you can’t breathe in your control pants! So, wear them for a day first under a normal outfit, just to check they don’t start to feel restrictive after a while.
6. Consider a hat
Hats are a great way to elevate a wedding outfit, but make sure you think about how your hair will look after being sat under it for a couple of hours, as you will most likely want to take it off during the day. If your hair is short or easily styled then fine, but if not, why not go for a fascinator or a beautiful oversized slide or clip instead.
7. Will you be warm enough?
Another thing to consider, especially if it’s a summer wedding, is whether you’ll be warm enough in the evening. Oversized blazers are everywhere on the high-street at the moment and would look great draped over a summer wedding outfit as the evening draws in and the temperature drops.
