Gliding Together: The Gift of Family Skates for Christmas

ad

The Christmas  season is a time for togetherness and joy, and what better way to celebrate than by giving the gift of family skates? And I mean the whole family – parents included!

As a mum, we often get overlooked in the new toy department. Don’t get me wrong, I love getting a new dressing gown, and you really can’t beat a Christmas bath bomb, but sometimes I just want to join in.

This year, I’ve got myself a little extra present for fun and I think you should get the mum in your life some too. I’m talking about these shiny gold rollerskates.

I’ve got the kids skates and I’m certain getting skates for the whole family, including parents, is an excellent idea for Christmas.

Skates for Parents are a Great Gift

If all the kids are on their skates, parents sometimes feel like they’re only getting half the fun. I know we all get great joy from watching the kids play, but when they’ve all mastered a skill like rollerskating, the best thing you can do is join in!

Bonding Time

Gifting skates to the entire family presents an opportunity to slow down, lace up, and glide together. From a gentle skate outside the  house or a evening out at the roller disco and a meal, getting everyone skates promotes bonding and creates a shared activity that everyone can enjoy.

Giggles, wobbles, and the mutual support of perfecting skills together strengthens the family bond.

Healthy Lifestyle for All Ages

I don’t know a parent out there who doesn’t constantly make pledges to get fit and then never quite follow through. I get it – life gets in the way. But family time is part of life so why not elevate it to family skate time?

My skates are from Skatehut where I got all the children skates from. I can’t wait to take everyone out on there skates once they’ve opened their presents.

Fostering a Sense of Adventure

Skating is an adventure waiting to happen, and getting the whole family involved adds an element of shared excitement.

It’s probably unrealistic to aim to skate to and from a place, but that shouldn’t put you off. Pack a lunch, pack your skates and head out for the a change of scenery with a lot of space to skate. Child skates skills vary wildly in siblings – usually the older ones are better because they’ve had more practice, so making the outing more about being together and skating an added extra is a nice way for the littler ones to skate in a low pressure environment.

Setting a Positive Example

Children often model their behaviors after their parents, and by embracing an active lifestyle that includes skating, parents set a positive example for their children. Demonstrating a commitment to health and fitness through enjoyable activities like skating instills lifelong habits in children, fostering a positive attitude toward physical activity and well-being.

There are loads of great reasons to kit the full family out in skates, but to be honest, the biggest reason for me is that skates are cool and I can confirm parents really want a pair!
